Dog urine soaked dirt how do I get rid of the smell???

Posted on March, 12 at 4:50 am |

I have a small yard in an apartment and my dog goes to the bathroom there. I have lived here for 4 years so the ground is pretty penitrated. I have moved the dirt around tried to get her to go in other areas but the smell seems to always linger. If I remove the dirt what should I replace it with? Some friends have suggested cedar chips, saw dust, etc. Any suggestions?

High PH also kills the grass too, rite. I think the wood chips will soak up the urine as well. I would make a pitcher of lemon or limeade, take the squeezed limes or lemons and boil it in a pot of water. When it cools down put contents in a garden waterer, the ones with a shower type sprinkle, and go pour it on the area that she goes in. The citrus is very good for neutralizing odors. Then, come in and have a glass of lemonade. ;-)

I would remove it and replace it with dirt. I tried to use cedar chips for bedding and found out after a trip to the vet. some dogs are allergic to it

make a lawn, the urine will act as a fertilizer. cedar chips and saw dust will smell just as bad as dirt

Dig up the dirt and replace it with large gravel rock. The sun should take care of the rest. Walk your dog around the neighborhood rather than taking it to one spot. The exercise will be good for both of you.
